Investigation and Development of a National System for the Collection, Storage, Transportation, and Recycling of Deposit Application Subjected Packaging Collected from Consumers in Accordance with Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model (Turkey Deposit Return System - TÜDİS) Project
The TÜDİS Project started in July 2019 to establish the necessary infrastructure for the clean collection of beverage packaging in Turkey through a deposit return system and its use in resource recovery.
The project initially examined the legislative infrastructure regarding packaging waste management in our country, and the potential relationships were investigated with the new legislation planned to be prepared under the Deposit Return System. Subsequently, the applications of Deposit Return Systems in Europe were examined.
While working on the proposed system structure within the project, the conditions of our country were taken into account, and a Deposit Return System structure specific to Turkey was developed. Additionally, the feasibility of the Deposit Return System through the Public-Private Partnership model was also investigated.
